Hello and welcome back to BeerCandle Forums. Online since 2007!

For the first time since we bought our first domain and launched our SMF website, we have dropped the database and started new. Our history may no longer be recorded on the internet, but our remaining members who find their way back home will have these memories forever in their minds and hearts.

Why did we decide to start fresh? The primary reason were too many ghosts. Too many of our friends have passed and could no longer speak their wishes for the content they posted. At some point in BeerCandle’s history, we promised everyone a full wipe of their data to ensure their privacy. With the world being a much different place compared to 14 years ago, we saw it fit to wipe the site and let history take it’s place in the past.

The secondary reason is simply that the forum became too large and cumbersome. After a decade of posts, modifications, and software conversions, it became too much for me to manage. I began to severely neglect the forum to the point where it became unusable. A fresh reset on modern software was a way to guarantee the site remains accessible and able to fulfill its purpose to our members.

With that said, please excuse the slippery floors. They’re freshly waxed. Thank you for understanding our position and we look forward to seeing who’s still around and joins up again. Let’s not forget the old memories and instead use them to inspire new ones.
